Sights around Montra Hanstholm Hotel

Montra Hanstholm Hotel is situated with the North Sea as its nearest neighbor. South of Hanstholm after the habour starts the coastline which continues all th way to the border. Here you can enjoy the sea and the beaches on one side and on the other side is the game reservation/ dune Plantations with a varied bird and animal life.

Fascinating nature
The area is known for its though but also fascinating nature which on both sides of Hanstholm tells the story of the reality from the second world war with the many bunkers which are placed close side by side in the countryside. Folders on hiking in the area can be commisioned.

The story of the area
The bunkers are relics, and can be experienced on MuseumsCenter Hanstholm - a bunkermuseum where Northen Europes' largest fortification from the second world war can be visited together with the exiting exhibition of "Atlantvolden". It is also possible to make a round trip in the countryside surrounding the large bunkers in the old amunition train. Further information is available at Museumscenter Hanstholm.

The lighthouse
Hanstholm also offers Denmarks' the strongest and highest situated Lighthouse with public access to the view over the sea and the town. The Lighthouse is in perfect working order and in the protected buildings surrounding it there is a museum with stories about the building of the habour, the coastal fishing and in the old rescue house is shown a exhibition on the stroy of the lifeboat service on the coast.

Views and sunsets
On the slope behind Montra Hanstholm Hotel and the wood there is a view over the habour and the Sea - it is the perfect place to experience the sunset. The place is dominated by rows of large and small stones which together forms a ship with "Vindharpen", which really plays in the wind, in the front and "Stolen" as stern.

Auction for fish
On the Habour it is possible to experience the fishing auction from 06.45 am on weekdays. Here you can see many kinds of fish.

Angling
For anglers it is possible to go on fishing trips to Det Gule Rev with various fishing boats which offers the possibility of renting fishing poles onboard. you can also try your luck at the nearby Put & Take lake or try the good conditions for fishing from the beach.

Golf, galleries and flowers
The possibilities for playing golf are also good in the area (please look under golf). With only a short drive in the area you can also visit various ceremics- and art exhibitions, galleries, candle foundries, glasshouses, sweet makers and museums of every kind. Furthermore Jespershus Blomsterpark is less than 1 hours drive from the hotel.
